Émile Laporte, born in Paris, was the son of Isidore Laporte and Marie Harlet. He studied under sculptors Gabriel-Jules Thomas, Augustin Dumont, Jean-Marie Bonnassieux, and Louis-Ernest Barrias at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. Laporte exhibited his work from 1881 onward at the Salon des Artistes Français. Recognized for his talent, he became a member of the Salon's association in 1888. His last exhibition at the Salon was in 1905.
