The crowning moment came when, after driving 993 miles in a Mercedes-Benz 300SLR, averaging 98mph, Moss and navigator Denis Jenkinson won the 22nd Mille Miglia, but it was also the year of his first Grand Prix and Targa Florio triumphs, and his third TT victory.
