It depicts a magnificent lady dressed in a yellow long dress with blue stripe, great à-la-mode gold embellishments on her hair, almost petting a greyhound.
Hand painted in famous bright yellow and delicate blue, Galluba & Hofmann figurines are among the most hard to collect as the factory operate only a short limited period of time.
The porcelain factory was founded on June 6, 1888 in Ilmenau under the name " Bernhard Küchler & Co “ by the industrialist Bernhard Küchler. Based in an area north of Langewiesener Straße directly at Ilmenau station, the factory experienced a rapid upswing shortly after it was founded.
In 1891, Hugo Galluba, joined the company as a shareholder and the company has been renamed "Galluba & Hofmann". The heyday of the factory ended with the First World War and the decline began in the 1920s until the company went bankrupt and had to stop production in 1929.
Products of the "Galluba & Hofmann" brand are rare today and mostly from the period between 1895 and 1914.
The figurine is in excellent condition, both lady and dog in perfect condition, tiny flake on the black border of the base, usual for early pieces unmarked, otherwise NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
