This lovely big carboniferous plant fossil is a highly exceptional giant cone of a Lepidodendron tree, called Lepidostrobus, The matrix measures 40 cm! Great quality and contrast!
The stone was found by myself in October 2024 in the region of the district Saarland in Germany. Found in rest material that came out of the former coal mines in this region. The fossil is between 309 and 302 million years old.
