About the artist
Sander Visser is a painter with a passion for capturing the human form on canvas. His inspiration comes from artists like Breitner, Israels, and Singer-Sargent, whose works have always fascinated him.
He enjoys working with oil paints, experimenting on different surfaces to see what effects he can achieve. Most of his paintings are portraits and figures – he finds faces and the human body endlessly interesting to paint.
To improve his skills, Sander has been taking classes at the Wackers Academy in Amsterdam. It's been a wonderful experience, helping him develop a style that blends impressionistic and classical elements.
There's often a touch of melancholy in his paintings, which wasn't intentional at first, but he has come to embrace it. He thinks it adds depth to the portraits and creates an interesting mood.
One of Sander's most exciting experiences as an amateur painter was participating in the Dutch TV show "Sterren op het Doek". He had the incredible opportunity to paint a portrait of Tineke de Nooij.
