Magnificent antique porcelain figurine, originally named “Gärtnerjunge mit Blumenkranz”/ “Gardener boy with flower wreath”, model no.24, designed by Meissen most famous artist, Johann Joachim Kändler in 18th century (1755-1760), in excellent condition.
It depicts a standing gardener boy holding a flower wreath, dressed in a cavalier costume with pink redingote and gilded vest, polychrome painted.
Johann Joachim Kändler (1706 – 1775) was a German sculptor who became the most important modeller of the Meissen porcelain manufactury and arguably of all European porcelain.
He worked at Meissen for over 40 years, from 1731 until his death in 1775.
His talent did not remain unnoticed and on 22 June 1731 at the age of 25, he was appointed court sculptor by Augustus II and installed as a modeller at the Meissen porcelain manufactory.
It is in excellent condition, beautifully sculpted and glazed, marked with Meissen blue crossed sword mark of the period and #24 numbered, NO grinding lines, First Choice, tiny chips on the flowers and flake on the lining under the jacket, otherwise NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
