A very sophisticated flower basket for ikebana, made from brown dyed bamboo.
This basket features a rounded body with a looped handle, and is made by tightly weaving very thin bamboo strands. The basket is accompanied by a brown lacquered bamboo vase, a cylindrical container ideal for arranging flowers. The back of the basket is signed by the artist.
In 1894, the eighth head of the family, Tokunosuke Okada, founded the shop under the name Tachikichi. Tachikichi has survived several wars during the Taisho and Showa eras, but has remained in the same place. After a temporary closure during the Pacific War, it reopened shortly after the war. Tachikichi creates unique products that distinguish it from traditional workshops.
