1 bottle of R. Lopez de Heredia Viña Tondonia 1954, this bottle teaches you a lot, as a great master. Personally I love it this year, once opened, the wine is very acidic and unpleasant, which makes you doubt its state of preservation, once an hour and a half has passed since you open it, the magic begins, mythical vintage and necessary to be enriched... My father used to tell me when I was a child, the best place to keep the wines is in the memory. If you have any doubts once you have bought the bottle, this is and will be one of my recommendations. Winemaking: It remains for 6 months in wooden vats where it finishes malolactic fermentation. Aged for 9 to 10 years in old 225-litre American oak barrels made by the winery's own coopers. The wine is manually racked twice a year. Clarified with fresh egg whites. Bottled directly from the barrel. Unfiltered. At this point all bottles are fitted with a lacquer capsule in the neck, which is replaced by a new lead capsule when labelling takes place. Special labelling for the US market. It rests for a minimum of 44 months in the bottle rack before being marketed. Tasting notes: Medium-high ruby-garnet colour, darker than the rest of the wines of the same period. Dark, dark, without much brightness. It has a very fine cloudiness and slight precipitates at the base of the bottle. A broad, dark-coloured rim, with a marked difference with respect to the meniscus.
