In 1880, Edouard Amouroux bought a vineyard with an exceptional exposure in the municipality of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Adjacent to one of these plots, a small chapel dedicated to Saint Mark, dating back to the 18th century, watches over the vineyard and is the origin of this name that has become a myth. So says the legend. And since 1926, the same label created by the Amouroux family has always appeared on the bottle. The Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes comes from a 25HA vineyard, a perfect balance between the 3 large soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, pebbles, fine sand and limestone.
