Charming portrait of a young lady in a pink ball dress, probably a débutante at her introduction to society. The way the fluffy folds of the dress are depicted shows the painter's mastery.
Vicaji was a British-Indian portrait painter, daughter of the Indian painter Rustom Vicaji. She painted royalty like Queen Alexandra or members of the British high society. The National Portrait Gallery owns a painting by her.
Oil painting on canvas, framed and signed (or stamped) lower left "D. E. Vicaji". The painting is in good condition except for a small spot of missing paint near the signature (see photo). The frame has some small signs of age.
The painting will be packaged carefully and sent off quickly by registered mail. Colours and contrasts can vary slightly for technical reasons.
