Majestic Art Deco large sculpture depicting a “Pair of Borzoi” dogs, great artistic creation of Schaubach Kunst Porzellan Manufaktur, in perfect condition.
The Borzoi Greyhound is a large dog breed of Russian origin, bred and appreciated for centuries. The Borzoi is an integral part of Russian society, the dog par excellence of the Tsars, whose aptitude was mainly hunting.
Borzoi is the masculine singular form of an archaic Russian adjective that means 'fast'. Borzaya sobaka ('fast dog') is the basic term for sighthounds used by Russians, though sobaka is usually dropped.
The first exported specimens were given to Queen Victoria around 1830; until then it was jealously guarded by the nobility. The aristocratic appearance, the silky coat, the reserved and gentle character make it a unique and highly sought-after dog, in the world of dog breeding.
Under the guidance of Heinz Schaubach, artist, director and owner, Schaubach Kunst porcelain factory was active from 1928 to 1953 only.
It is in perfect condition, Like New Never Used, marked on the back of the base with Schaubach Kunst shield mark of the period, impressed numbered #1090, original golden paper label with same #1090 inscribed, beautifully sculpted and glazed, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
