A high quality early Byzantine bronze enkolpion, 6th/7th century AD. Very well preserved with very fine engraving and all the glass inlay intact. In excellent condition , only a minor nick to the surface, beautiful age related patina. Length 10,8 cm.
Provenance: from the inventory of the well known ancient art dealer Mathias Komor, New York [Inv. E427], where acquired by the previous owner, 3 November 1973. A copy of the original invoice will be provided to the new owner.
