【Product details】

This refined Kanazawa lacquerware, crafted for the Kaga Domain, exemplifies exquisite artistry. The tea caddy features elegant fan motifs and nashiji interior with cut gold maki-e, enhancing its aesthetic appeal.

The lid showcases fan designs with willow trees and baskets, inlaid with mother-of-pearl. The sides depict pine trees and chrysanthemums within fan motifs. These elements carry symbolic meanings: willows represent grace, baskets signify abundance, pines symbolize longevity, and chrysanthemums represent rejuvenation and imperial associations.

Maki-e, a traditional Japanese technique, involves sprinkling gold or silver powder on wet lacquer. Nashiji uses a similar method to create a pear skin-like texture, adding depth to the surface.

Kiyose Ikko, the second-generation artist, began creating maki-e works in 1975 under his father's guidance. Certified as a traditional craftsman in 1995, he continues to uphold time-honored techniques with skill and conservatism.

The silk pouch features the "Koishitatami Takara-zukushi" pattern, depicting pebbles and treasure symbols. The wooden box bears the artist's signature and seal. The entire set is in excellent condition, as shown in the accompanying photos.
