"The Cologne Concert" is an iconic solo piano album by American jazz pianist Keith Jarrett. It was recorded live at the Cologne Opera House on January 24, 1975, and is considered one of the most significant and influential albums in the history of jazz and improvised music.

The album was made when Jarrett traveled to Cologne to give a concert despite health problems. Due to a communication error, it turned out that the piano he had ordered was in suboptimal condition and could not be repaired in time.
Despite the technical challenges, Jarrett decided to play the concert anyway.

The concert lasted a total of about 67 minutes and consisted of a single uninterrupted improvisation divided into four parts. Keith Jarrett dove deep into the moment, letting the mood of the room, his thoughts and emotional state guide him, creating an extraordinary musical journey. The sonic experience ranges from delicate, lyrical passages to lively and rhythmic outbursts.

"The Köln Concert" was originally released by ECM Records and surprised many by being an extraordinary achievement not only for its musical brilliance but also for its technical limitations.
The recording became a masterpiece and a sales success. It helped raise awareness of solo jazz piano music and solidified Keith Jarrett's reputation as one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation.

The album received numerous awards and recognitions, including Grammy nominations.
It has also influenced and inspired jazz pianists around the world to explore their own improvisational abilities.

It is important to note that Keith Jarrett has not given any public performances in recent years due to health problems, which makes the concert and the album "The Cologne Concert" an even more precious document of his musical genius.
