Hinomaru Yosegaki Flag in hanging scrolls
Hanging scrolls Size: 164×102 cm
Yosegaki Flag Size: 65×84 cm
This is rare item.
There are many Hinomaru Yosegaki flags in Japan. However, not many of them are contained in a hanging scroll like this one. When you look at it closely, you can see that the flag is firmly attached to the hanging scroll, making it a single sheet. There is not a single spot where it looks like it might come off. This is an old, but brilliant piece of artwork.
◆武運長久 Buun-Choukyu
It was the most widely used word during World War II in Japan.
It has only four Kanji characters, but it is the best word of all, giving to those who see it a vast and eternal power.
"I pray for your safety on the battlefield. Make sure you return home alive.”
These four characters are very emotional words.
◆撃滅 Gekimetsu
This is radical word.
"Win over your opponents. Destroy them.”
◆青山警察署長 Aoyama-keisatsu-syocho
Chief of police in Aoyama, Tokyo.
It is evident that the Chief of Police created this flag as a pep talk to a young soldier going to war and raised it for him.
We can guess whether the soldier who went to the battlefield was a young man who lived in Aoyama or a young man who attended school in Aoyama.
This is old and has a few stains, rubs and tears.
Please understand that shipping costs from Japan to overseas are high since the total weight is heavy at 3 kg.
Carefully packaged and shipped from Japan to overseas.
I have other rare items up for current auction,
so please check back.
