A fine Sumatran ‘Pedang’ which is the literal translation for ‘sword’. Often found all over Sumatra with their typical carved hilts depicting floral motifs. The Sumatran swords are known for their fine detail in silver decoration, as is seen here on our example (low grade silver or alpaca as in Indonesia they mix silver and don't stamp / certify it). As I wasn't able to test the silver I would like to state / qualify the material as "alpaca"

One of the finer examples of a sumatran pedang with typical shape, silver guard and decorated with low grade silver. The pommel is in relief with beautiful silver part (also on top of hilt!). A true beautiful example of a Sumatran pedang with no restorations / repairs and fully original which is slightly worn but an interesting blade. The blade has traces of wear and surface rust and the hilt and shaft decorations are of high quality.
