On September 6, 1918, at 15:00 hours UT, a brilliant fireball appeared over Ryazan, Russia. Seconds later many atmospheric detonations were heard throughout the surrounding countryside. Several stones totaling 328 kg were recovered near Belaya Gora and Donguz, northern Saratov Oblast. This non-recrystallised chondrite L4 is characterised by friable unconsolidated matrix and a fragile matrix-chondrule bond. The matrix is concrete-grey matrix and contains a wide variety of chondrule types that separate easily. Chondrules display barred, porphyritic, and radiating textures.
