2008 Dom Pérignon - Champagne Brut with Mexican Import label
Bottles are in perfect condition and stored in a wine fridge.
The 2008 vintage presents contrasting climatic conditions. It will be the month of September that will bring about the true miracle for the vineyards: a perfect state of health and an ideal maturity of the grapes. The harvest, which began on September 15th, was extended to harvest the best fruits at the right time.
Assembly
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2008 is obtained from a secret blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Tasting
For Richard Geoffroy, the great Chef de Caves who joined the maison in 1990, “Dom Pérignon liberates the 2008 vintage, freeing it from an overly literal reading of the canons of champagne.”
Nose
Brilliant and complex, the aromatic bouquet opens with delicate floral notes and acidic citrus and stone fruit notes. Anise and mint bring a pleasant freshness. The second nose underlines the finesse of the spicy, toasted and woody notes.
Mouth
On the palate, Dom Pérignon Vintage 2008 appears perfectly consistent with the aromas revealed by the nose. Precise, elegant and tonic, it shows all its warm generosity, where the fruit dominates, enhanced by a lively acidity. Savory, the finish continues with smoky notes.
An exceptional champagne that will be able to express all its personality full of contrasts, cheering up the most daring food-wine pairings. A singular vintage that recalls the legendary 1996 vintage, perfectly combining the strength, elegance and freshness that are the signature of the great Dom Pérignon. Dom Pérignon Vintage 2008 is already iconic.
"The finest release of this iconic cuvée since the 1996 vintage, the 2008 Dom Pérignon wafts from the glass with an incipiently complex bouquet of Meyer lemon, green apple, dried white flowers and oyster shell, with only subtle hints of the smoky, autolytic aromas that have been such a prominent signature of recent releases. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and complete, its notable flesh and amplitude controlled by incisive acids, with a youthfully exuberant but elegant mousse and a long, beautifully delineated finish. Considering the sheer size of this cuvée, it's a remarkable achievement and a fitting release with which to conclude Richard Geoffroy's tenure as chef de cave. Given the 2008's intensity and balance, I suspect purists will be anticipating later disgorgements with lower dosage and more time on the lees with particular enthusiasm. Tasted three times, with consistent results."
