Mike Bloomfield / Al Kooper / Steve Stills – Super Session

“Super Session” is a classic blues-rock album from 1968, the result of an improvised collaboration between three well-known musicians:
Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper and Stephen Stills.
Each of them brought a unique background to the album, resulting in a spontaneous, free-flowing recording that blended blues, rock and jazz influences.

The musicians
Mike Bloomfield: Bloomfield, one of the most famous guitarists of the 1960s, was known for his work with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Bob Dylan (most notably on Highway 61 Revisited).
His fluent, expressive blues playing helped shape the Chicago blues scene.

Al Kooper: A versatile musician, producer and songwriter, Kooper is known for his contributions to Bob Dylan's electric sound (he played organ on Like a Rolling Stone) and as the founder of Blood, Sweat & Tears.
Kooper was keen to get great musicians together for an impromptu recording session.

Stephen Stills: At the time of the recording, Stills had just become famous with Buffalo Springfield.
He would later enjoy further success with Crosby, Stills & Nash.
His style was a mixture of folk, rock and blues and gave the recording a very special touch.
