DESCRIPTION
Here we find the classicism of the Douro, with character. Sophisticated from the start, it conveys the dimension of the Douro in every drop, flooding it with a generous mix of fruity, dense and spicy aromas, silky textures, fine tannins and a firm structure, revealing the right element of gravity. A very balanced, long and highly focused finish.
Grainha is the seed of the grape vine which is responsibility for preserving its characteristics so that life can flourish - the essence of nature. Inspired by the grape seed, from which it is possible to obtain fundamental compounds of a wine rich in proteins, condensed tannins and aromatic extracts, Grainha Reserva red and white wines are born, which year after year maintains the profile of a deeper and gastronomic Douro, with maturation in oak barrels, a complex nose, well-structured in the mouth and with very special precision.
A curious fact: the back label repeats the name in several languages, demonstrating its universality and the essence of life.
WINE VARIETIES: Touriga Franca (30%), Tinta Roriz (40%), Tinto Cão (5%), Tinta Barroca (10%) & Touriga Nacional (15%).

HARVEST
From September 2 to September 20 There was some climate instability in 2021, once again demonstrating the crucial importance of human experience and knowledge of the vineyards. It was a memorably cool year during development of the vegetative cycle, with a mildly hot summer and rainfall during the harvest. The natural conditions and cool nights contributed to slow and gradual maturation, favouring the balance of the grapes and maintaining the primary aromas, juicy texture and sparkling freshness.
VINIFICATION
100% destemmed. Aged 11 months in French oak barrels (70% of which 2nd and 3rd year oak barrels and 30% is new oak).
