黄金水大尽盃 ogon suidaijin sakazaki - Utagawa Kuniteru (1808-1876) and Toyohara Kunichika (1835-1900) - 日本 - Meiji period (1868-1912)

I offer 2 fine woodblock print books written by Tamenaga Shunsui with illustrations by Utagawa Kuniteru and a small woodblock triptych depicting four kabuki actors by Toyohara Kunichika. Kuniteru was an ukiyo-e artist in the tradition of the Utagawa school. Born in Edo (Tokyo), he studied under both Kunisada and Toyokuni I. He produced prints of a wide variety of subjects, including many depicting the increasing Western influence on Japan, with his main output taking the form of book illustrations and single-sheet ukiyo-e. Tamenaga Shunsui was the pen name of Sasaki Sadataka, a Japanese novelist of the Edo period specialized in romantic stories. Toyohara Kunichika was at thirteen the student of Edo's most notable ukiyo-e artist at the time, Kunisada. Passionate about kabuki theater, he focused his work on prints of kabuki actors as well as the representation of scenes from popular plays of the time. The prints are good conditions for their age, back cover of a book with thorn page, the triptych is in very good conditions as photo shows. The items are in the European Union, therefore no hidden import taxes within the EU.
