A sublime Chinese archaic bronze wine vessel and cover, called a bianhu,
Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD), China.

Expert's note: similar Chinese archaic bronze wine vessel and cover, same size (height 31 cm) has been sold by Bonhams for £7,012.50 - €8.500, -
Provenance: private collection, The Netherlands.
Of flattened oval shape raised on a rectangular hollow base, the sides with grooved bands, and applied with a pair of taotie masks at the shoulders, each suspending loose rings, the domed cover incised with a double mask, the bronze with a mottled dark green patina.
The dark green colored bronze with an incredible and complex patina of yellow orange cuprite, with areas of bright green malachite. The underneath of the green oxidation with remnants of gilding, indicating the whole vessel may have been originally gil.
Note: It will be professionally packed and safely sent in a wooden crate within 3 working days by FedEx. Shipped with Insurance!
Condition: good condition. Wear consistent with the age, green oxidation,some loss of color. Please be advised that all ancient Chinese pottery and bronze objects had been buried in tombs and are excavated from there. Also worth of note is that the item is more than 2000 years old.
