Shomei Tomatsu 55” is a collection of photographs by Shomei Tomatsu, one of Japan's leading photographers. Shomei Tomatsu is one of the most prominent photographers in postwar Japan. He has always maintained a high level of awareness of issues and a relentless quest to discover the original image of Japan and the Japanese people, including a desire for peace based on the internal wounds of Nagasaki, Okinawa, and other areas during the war, criticism of civilization and politics from a sharp perspective, and an inquiry into the human involvement in nature and materials. His works include “11:02 NAGASAKI,” “Oh! Shinjuku,” ‘Japan,’ ‘I am a king,’ ‘Pencil of the Sun,’ and many other masterpieces were published during the 1960s and 1970s. This book is a series of books by famous photographers (including Daido Moriyama and others) published by Phaidon, an American publisher, and is a paperback type book. It contains representative works from the early to the mid-1970s.
