Blue fluorite from Auvergne is unique: there are other blue fluorite localities in France and around the globe but this specific shade of blue, intense and without color mixing, only belongs to Auvergne.
Here is a representative colorful blue fluorite from La Barre mine in Saint-Jacques-d'Ambur, displaying a focal 2.9 cm edge cube with delicate blue stripes and yellow core with purple rim.
Like most specimens, it bears natural and partly recrystallized damages due to fault crushing of blue fluorite pockets in this vein deposit.
The deep blue color is UV-triggered and might appear a bit clearer under too strong daylight or LED light: the pictures are shot under full spectrum neon light (accurately reproducing soft daylight), which I recommend for fluorite display.
A colourful little jewel from La Barre mine.
