Ancient Egyptian Stone Amulet
Circa 664-332 BC - Late Period
This intriguing stone amulet depicts a standing deity with short legs and a visibly longer torso. The arms are folded and held in front, while the head faces forward. There are perforations on the body - two under the arms and one between the legs, with a fourth perforation running through the back of the head.
In ancient Egyptian belief, amulets were thought to possess magical properties and were worn to invoke the protection and favour of specific deities. They played a crucial role in religious practices and daily life, providing a tangible connection between the individual and the spiritual realm.
