【Product details】
Behold the elegance and cultural richness of the Edo period or later with this exquisite pair of taka-geta, opulently painted with vermilion lacquer, a luxurious touch that signifies their prestigious past. These elevated wooden geta, adorned with the mystical Tengu and the symbolic Tomoe mon motifs, were not just practical for elevating the wearer above the street but also marked a person's high social standing. The vermilion lacquer, known for its bright and enduring color, was an expensive material that added to the value of these geta, making them a lavish accessory of the time.
In the Edo era, such geta were primarily donned by geisha, courtesans, and kabuki actors, who were the trendsetters of their society. The Tengu — a protective yet mischievous deity — along with the Tomoe, embodying the harmony of nature, together enhance the mythical allure of these geta.
