His real name is Rikimaru. His name is Sosuien Seiran Shoya. He studied Nanga with Takeson Tajika, and with Kansetsu Hashimoto and Insho Domoto. He graduated from Kyoto College of Painting. He has repeatedly won prizes at the Teiten, Nitten, and Shin-Nitten exhibitions. He passed away in 1979 at the age of 79. With signed and inscribed tomobako.
