Single Malt “Sassicaia Wood Finish” is a whiskey that comes from a careful selection of barley, coming from the expanses not far from where the Benromach distillery is located. The distillation uses two copper stills, and, at the end of the manufacturing process, the whiskey obtained is aged first for 7 years in barrels that contained Bourbon, and then, for a further 27 months, in barrels that contained the prized red Italian, Sassicaia. At the end of maturation we proceed with bottling, a phase in which the whiskey is diluted with water from the nearby Chapelton spring. In the glass, it shows a very intense golden yellow color. The olfactory spectrum is complex and layered, with initial fruity and vinous aromas that veer towards nuances of malt, chocolate, peat and spices. On the palate it is broad, smooth, characterized by a spicy flavour; ends with a long, smoky finish. Cragganmore Speyside is one of the most important regions of Scotland for the Scotch Whisky industry; here, in the fertile valley that runs along the Spey River, one of the longest in all of Scotland, are home to the most important malt distilleries. Cragganmore, founded almost a century and a half ago by Sir George Macpherson-Grant, is located in the village of Ballindalloch in Banffshire, the most fast and safe means of transport at the time. This 12-year-old Scotch Whisky is a Sherry Single Malt with intriguing and sensual aromas, playing between spices and smoke and with a sweet and fruity taste; the same Michael Jackson, who loved him very much in his life, described him as one of the most complex of all the Single Malts. The colour of the gold with its beautiful brilliance, it opens with initial fruity aromas of dry apricot, blackberry and currants, vanilla and dried fruit (nuts, chestnuts and almonds), honey, cinnamon and ginger, all wrapped in a soft cloud of smoke. The assage is revealed in full correspondence: warm and sweetened with fruity notes, it at times remembers a freshly baked apple pie, soft and with long smoky persistence and with vague nutmeg. Perfect alone, smooth or, at most, accompanied by a glass of fresh water.
