Handle of the drum of a Thamang shaman figuring the three faces of the deity Vajrakila: a joyful, a peaceful, an angry, or with the face of the deity, Ishtadevata, also known as Ydam.
The handle has three triangular faces representing the power of the blade to transform negative energies, known as "three poisons" or "poison root", in Sanskrit, “mula klesha”: ignorance, desire/attachment and aversion/anger.
One of the photos shows how the handle was fixed to the drum.
One of the two handles, particularly ancient, after the disuse as dhyangro was transformed into Phurba and was added to the iron tip.
Beautiful and deep encrusted patina.
