Charming pair of cast iron chôshi 銚子 (sake kettles) features an all-over nanako 魚々子 pattern in relief. Topped with a lid featuring a knob crafted to resemble an upside-down pumpkin, complete with diverging leaves.
The handles stand up-right on their own and embellished with silver inlaid flowers. Both kettles are supported by three low feet.
Period: Japan – 19th century (Late Edo period/Early Meiji period).
Approx. dimensions:
Height 14 cm, Length 20.5 cm, Depth 14 cm.
Weight 812 and 810 gram.
Both in a very good condition with minimal traces consistent with age. The kettles have been tested to see if they leaks, and one has signs of leakage, the other doesn't. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
