Sanrizuka : Hokuso Plateau on Fire , Document 1966-71
Tadao Mitome
Shinsensha/1971/Japanese/243*188*20
Japanese photographer Rio Mitome's photo book “Sanrizuka: Burning Hokuso Plateau (With OBI)”. Rio Mitome is a leading photojournalist in postwar Japan. He is a news photographer who has covered more than 70 countries around the world, including Asia and Africa, and was awarded the first Ken Domon Award in 1982. In recent years, he published “3/11 FUKUSHIMA: 555 Days of Radioactive Contamination” related to the nuclear power plant issue, and he continues to be active as a photographer. This book, a collection of his works published in 1971, is a representative work of Rio Mitome. This book, published in 1971, is a collection of Rio Mitome's representative works. It is a reportage of the struggle against the construction of Narita International Airport, known as the “Sanrizuka (Narita) Struggle,” captured from the perspective of the local farmers. A masterpiece of “protest” work collection that realistically depicts the heated clashes between the residents and the state. Editing and composition by Kiyoshi Awazu and profound gravure printing are also excellent. With obi. (Included in The Japanese Photobook 1912-1990)
