A delightful miniature from an Indian Quran dated 1548/9. Consisting of the Chapter Header (Surah) written in red nashki, there follows 11 lines of fine Nashki in black ink. This leaf is from the Meccan Chapter 42, Ash-Shura (Consultation) v1-11, which talks about conducting affairs by mutual consultation as one of the qualities of true believers. it emphasises that God has decreed for Muslims the same religion ordained for all the previous prophets.
The leaf, whose script is contained within a 8.5x4.5cm framed area, is amazingly clear given its size. The scripture is written between gold clouds which separate the lines of text and contains simple gold 'aya' marking the individual verses. Two elaborate illuminated decorative marginal Juz mark the first and fifth verses. .
Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing.
