You are bidding on a very fine and rare antique italian violin. The instrument is in ready to play condition with tears and wears but no visible cracks. The label says: Joseph Dall' Aglio fecit Mantuae anno 1838. The violin has an excellent irregular grained spruce of the top and one piece back of softly flamed maple with matched sides and grafted scroll. The whole length of the violin is 585 mm and the back 354 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 163 mm; middle bouts: 114 mm; lower bouts: 201 mm. New ebony set up, new bridge and new strings. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power.
