A fine pair of Japanese imperial vases inlaid in gold and silver with lotus ponds and flanked by a pair of elephant handles
Marked to the base with 16 petal chrysanthemums, the Mon of the Japanese imperial family
During the Meiji period no one except the emperor was permitted to use this mon, and it can therefore be concluded that the vases was commissioned by them
Standing ca. 22.2 cm tall and weighing a combined 1796g
Condition - Generally good with marks and blemishes commensurate with age
Not entirely straight and one with an uneven upper rim
The silver inlay can be polished to bring out the decor, however we have decided to let it be up to the buyer if the patina should be preserved
