Excellent quality Japanese traditional Wooden sculptured Noh mask of Manbi万眉 with meticulous workmanship made by famous Noh mask artist - Tanaka Suigetsu田中彗月, the artist name was carved on the backside of the mask.
Graduated from Kyoto Technical School, he engaged in Ittobori carving, and from 1959 he studied under Koun Kitazawa (Nyoi), who formed Menseikai with Ujiharu Nagasawa and Koharu Ishikura. ” and later changed his name to “Suigetsu”. A Kyoto mask making master who was widely active as a member of the Menjokai, the Kansai Nobori Church, and the Japan Art Association, and established the Noh Mask Research Institute in 1974, he devoted himself to the study of Noh masks and to the guidance of his successors.
With noh mask bag and wooden tomobako.
Dimensions: 21 x 13.8 x 6.5 cm
