A booklet containing the list of passengers on board the Holland America Line steamer "Statendam" on its voyage from New York to Rotterdam, departing the 1st of May 1936. The passengers are divided into three classes and listed by name.
The s.s. Statendam was completed in 1929 and considered the most modern passenger ship of her time. Three years after the publication of this pamphlet the second world war broke out and the ship was used to ferry thousands of refugees from Europe to the United States. In 1940 she caught fire in Rotterdam during a gun battle between Dutch and invading German troops, and completely burnt out, to be scrapped shortly thereafter.

Condition: A little frayed at the edges, a few pencil annotations, overall in a very presentable condition.

This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.

The description of the item's excellent condition is a blatant lie. 1 of the 3 vases has a glued neck, and the 2nd has a badly scratched handle. Everything was revealed when the dirt was washed off.
