I am offering for auction a superb 20th century oil on board titled Off Orford Ness. Signed and dated bottom right by listed artist Roger Fisher, 1919-1992. It features a sailing vessel off the lighthouse at Orford Ness, Suffolk, on the east coast of England. The painting measures 30.5 x 18 cm. The frame is 45 x 33 cm. Condition of the paintings is good. Please view all photos for accurate condition. Ready to hang. Roger Roland Sutton Fisher was born at Dover, Kent on 3 August 1919. Roger spent some 37 years in the Royal Navy, which gave his pictures great authenticity, and he was elected to the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 1983. He exhibited at the Royal Society of Marine Artists, at the Wapping Group and the Armed Forces Art Society. He married at Westminster, London in 1948, June Audrey Foster and they lived at High Ridge, The Terrace, Snape, near Woodbridge, Suffolk. Roger Roland Sutton Fisher died at Snape on 28 December 1992 and is buried in St John the Baptist New Cemetery, Snape. The Royal Naval Lifeboat Institution and Yarrow Shipbuilders hold examples of his work. Please note.
