You are bidding on an amazing old french 4/4 violin, labeled "Fait sous la direction Albert Deblaye Luthier a Mirecourt 1924". The second label says: Modele d'Apres Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis Faciebat anno 1721 AS.
Condition:
Some tears and wears to original golden amber reddish varnish, two repaired cracks on top. Good rosewood set up, new master made bridge.
Description:
Good quality high grained spruce was chosen for the top, and the maple of the two pieces back with beautiful grain is strongly flamed. Matched sides, neck and scroll. The inlaid purfling is a tasteful work of good craftsmanship, just as the shining, golden amber varnish. The violin is ready to play. The whole length of the violin is 587 mm and the back 356 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 163 mm; middle bouts: 110 mm; lower bouts: 204 mm. Full size.
