First published in 1869. Thomas Rymer Jones was a notable 19th-century British zoologist, and his work in "Cassell's Book of Birds" is renowned for its detailed focus on bird biology and behavior, as well as its rich illustrations.

Large volume containing the first and second series.

Richly illustrated and printed on quality papers by Thorburn and others.

Numerous black and white illustrations within the text.

Illustrated capital letter at the beginning of each chapter.

The volume is bound in half leather with dark red textured covers, worn with age.

Weight over 1.5 kg.

Condition: Firm and well-bound copy. The exterior covers are slightly worn, the title on the spine is illegible, and the first page is detached. The spine cloth is faded with some wear on the edges. Internally in good condition. No names or inscriptions. There are slight stain marks on some pages. Although the volume originally contained several color lithographs, it now retains ONLY ONE COLOR LITHOGRAPH, as shown in the photograph.
