Romerska antiken Glas Blekgul kanna
An exquisite Ancient Roman jug blown from pale yellow glass. The vessel features a long cylindrical neck embellished with two applied horizontal trails in the same hue of yellow. To the top, the neck opens into a funnel-shaped mouth with a tubular rim. A single handle is drawn up and outwards from the shoulder, then pressed onto the rim to connect the body and mouth for ease of use. The conical body stands on an outsplayed ring with a concave bottom. Iridescence, weathering and some earthy encrustations to the surface.
Many items of ancient glassware were designed for tableware use, in particular for carrying and serving water and wine at banquets. Jugs, like this example, were one of the most frequently used containers, and existed in different dimensions and shapes.
Measurements: W 6.7cm x H 14.5cm
