This is a beautiful rare pair of antique bronze candle piano sconces. Dating to around 1870-1890, they were a feature on all pianos in the days before electric lighting. Even with the advent of household gas, an extra light source was often required so a player could read their music! A good quality pair, stylish and solid, they show a beautiful patina of age and use. The sconces are removable from the fixing plates for cleaning and it's very rare to find a complete pair. The plates were often left on old pianos when the holders were removed after effective electric lighting took over! They're in lovely condition! Total weight is 797 grams!
