2019 Casa Ferreirinha, Antónia Adelaide Ferreira Limited Edition Red 1 x 0.75L

DESCRIPTION
Sogrape is Portugal's leading wine company, with an unparalleled presence, top brands and exceptional vineyards in the country’s main wine-growing regions: Vinho Verde, Douro/Porto, Dão, Bairrada, Bucelas and the Alentejo. Sogrape combines its in-house production with the purchasing of grapes from thousands of growers in a collective effort which nurtures – and brings to the world – the very best in Portuguese wines.
Casa Ferreirinha is the pioneer brand and leader in non-fortified Douro wines, with a history of more than 250 years, always in family hands. Knowledge and excellence are just some of the things that make Casa Ferreirinha a benchmark in the world of wines.
Antónia Adelaide Ferreira is the name of the emblematic figure in the history of the Douro whose legacy grows with each new harvest. Each limited edition wine celebrates afresh the birthday of Dona Antónia and her passion, determination and vision. This is a wine that unites the Cima Corgo and the Douro Superior, the terroirs she loved blessed with the potential to produce wines in her image: firm yet balanced, lively yet mature and elegant.

WINEMAKER: Luis Sottomayor.

WINE VARIETIES: Old Vines.

VINIFICATION
Vinified in batches by grape varieties or individual plots, at Quinta da Leda, from grapes from the Leda, Seixo, Sairrão and Porto estates, a long maceration and gentle extraction takes place, at controlled temperatures. After fermentation and removal of the liquid, pressing is carried out by gravity, without mechanical action, resulting in 225L of each individual batch. It carries out malolactic fermentation and aging in used French oak barrels for 8 months. This is followed by aging for 24 months in used French oak barrels. The final batch is prepared based on the selection of the best wines, resulting from the numerous tastings and analyzes carried out during this period. In order to preserve the highest quality, it is only subjected to filtration before bottling. 2666 numbered bottles were produced.

TASTING NOTES
Ruby colored wine. Aroma of very good complexity, with balsamic notes, resin, cedar and tobacco box, black fruit, light notes of olive paste, spices, cloves and nutmeg, slightly stony, with very well integrated wood. In the mouth it has good volume, firm and well-integrated tannins, lively acidity, ripe fruit, spices, with a long and elegant finish.

SERVING
Ideal to accompany cheeses, red meat and game dishes. Store in a horizontal position, in a cool and dry place, protected from light and temperature fluctuations. Serve at a temperature of 16ºC to 18ºC. Consume in moderation.
