Taken From The German" with attractive hand-coloured frontis portrait illustration and anengraved folding map, in very good condition. Inside scattered foxing but text very readable, externally wear around edges and corners of leather with light losses-see photos. Andreas Hofer (1767-1810) was a Tryolese patriot who captured the imagination of several of his contemporaries. "It is an anonymous publication, but it has been conjectured, that it is the work of either Baron Hormayr, one of the most active leaders of the Tyrolese patriots, or of some person in his confidence, whom he supplied with materials for the work". (preface). Uncommon.
