Watercolour with original picture frame '60. 100x70 cm; 115x85 with frame Aldo Raimondi was born in 1902 in Rome, a pupil of Giuseppe Signorini, he graduated in architecture from the Academy of Fine Arts when he was about 22 years old. Vedutist. Watercolour technique. In 1926 he moved to Milan, where among others he frescoed some rooms in Palazzo Cusani, A number of his paintings in the Palazzo Comunale, which he executed during his stay in Parma, are on display in Parma before going on to work in Italy and abroad where he organised numerous exhibitions. In 1939 he became professor of Watercolour at the Brera Academy. His works include landscapes, animals, flowers and numerous portraits, including those of Popes Pius XII, John XXIII (1958) and Paul VI (1966). He also produced stained glass windows for the Archbishop's Seminary in Monza, the parish church in Menaggio and the church of San Simpliciano in Milan. From 1938 to 1940 he replaced Achille Beltrame in the illustration of the Ktalian "Domenica del Corriere"; he was later called upon to illustrate 'Il Popolo di Torino'.
