Signed on the base ‘Theodore Rivière’ with manufacturer's mark
Théodore (Louis-Auguste) Rivière was born in Toulouse in 1857 and was a student at the school of fine arts in his hometown. He received a first prize in composition and continued his training in Paris in the workshops of Jouffroy, Falguière and Antonin. He was a talented sculptor, exhibited his works at the Salon in 1876, making numerous trips abroad and responding to important private or public orders.
He received numerous distinctions and was named an officer of the Legion of Honor in 1906.
