Three porcelain factories operated in the Silesian town of Tiefenfurt. The first earthenware factory in Tiefenfurt was established as early as 1808 by Johann Heinrich Nicolai Mathiesen. His son, Friedrich Nicolai Mathiesen, started in 1865 to produce porcelain. The factory was taken over in 1872 and renamed Schlesische Porzellan- und Steingut-Manufaktur AG. It went bankrupt as early as 1885. The factory's assets were taken over by Louis Lövinsohn. In 1891, a new owner of the company became Paul Donat. In 1909 it became a limited liability company (GmbH). Carl Hans Tupac took over the company in 1918 and ran it until 1944.
