Kaigetsudou School
Kaigetsudou was active after the death of Hishikawa Moronobu. Kaigetsudou was active from Shoutoku正徳 to the Houei 宝永 period (1700 ~ 1720). The “Kaigetsudou school” is a group of ukiyo-e artists opened by a person named Kaigetsudou Ando 懐月堂安度. He had left a lot of handwriting art work.
The style is similar to that of Hishikawa Moronobu, but the feature is that the face is rounded and the design of the clothes is flashy.
Kaigetsudou Ando 懐月堂安度 (birth and death unknown) had a workshop in Asakusa Suwa-cho, but this was not a woodblock print but a hand-painted workshop.
The composition to draw each is decided, and by combining them, we were able to produce in large quantities.
