Offering a super rarity! Manufactured in the 1920's, this is an S.G. Brown Ltd, Type F hand speaker/microphone. From the advent of radio broadcasting, this British company made headphones, radios, amplifying devices and loudspeakers for the domestic market.Research states this is actually a 'Ladies' Headphone', the intention being that ladies could listen to their crystal radio sets without their hair being messed, so instead on wearing the conventional 2 sided headset that fit across the top of the head, she could simply hold this up to her ear. The earpiece and handle are Bakelite, with the wand measuring 8" long, and has a built-in volume control at the base. Never saw one like this before, very cool, and still wired to it's original cloth-insulated cable. The overall length is 13".
