VERY BEAUTIFUL, LIMITED PHOTOBOOK by Candida Höfer, student of the first class of Bernd and Hilla Becher at "Kunstakademie Düsseldorf" (together with Thomas Ruff, Thomas Struth, Andreas Gursky, Axel Hütte and others).

Published on the occasion of the same-named exhibition ("Projects: Done") at "Museum Morsbroich" in Leverkusen in 2009 and at "Belvedere" in Vienna in 2010 and 2011.
An exhibition by Candida Höfer with Kuehn Malvezzi.

FRESH CONDITION.

Welcome to the LAST PHOTOBOOK AUCTION by 5Uhr30.com starting this year -
with more than 100 great lots from my personal collection and from recent acquisitions.

'Candida Höfer understands ‘projects’ as multi-part works that have a planned, additional sequence or are completed when a definitive state is reached. Projects Done refers to fourteen completed projects from the years 1968 to 2008, the fifteenth being the presentation itself, which the artist developed with the architects Kuehn Malvezzi. Candida Höfer shows her works in unusual formats: Small-format views of the series Zoological Gardens (1993), The Citizens of Calais (2000) or On Kawara (2006/07), similar to a catalogue raisonné, or large-format images such as Turks in Germany (1979) and the slide project 80 Pictures, which are depicted with a black background on the pages of the book. Candida Höfer has collaged eight pages of Flipper with black and white photographs of pinball machines. Liverpool, an early work from 1968, shows calm full-page black and white images. Candida Höfer's pictures of exhibition spaces created by the architects Kuehn Malvezzi form a further focal point.'

Like always we guarantee detailed and accurate descriptions, 100% transport protection, 100% transport insurance and of course combined shipping - worldwide.

Bernhard 'Bernd' Becher (1931-2007), and Hilla Becher, born Wobeser (1934-2015), were German conceptual artists and photographers working as a collaborative duo. They are best known for their extensive series of photographic images, or typologies, of industrial buildings and structures, often organised in grids. As the founders of what has come to be known as the 'Becher school' or the "Düsseldorf School of Photography", they influenced generations of documentary photographers and artists in Germany and abroad. They were awarded the Erasmus Prize and the Hasselblad Award.

The Düsseldorf School of Photography refers to a group of photographers who studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in the mid 1970s under the influential photographers Bernd and Hilla Becher.
Known for their rigorous devotion to the 1920s German tradition of Neue Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity), the Bechers’ photographs were clear, black and white pictures of industrial archetypes (pitheads, water towers, coal bunkers).
Andreas Gursky, Candida Höfer, Axel Hütte, Thomas Ruff and Thomas Struth modified the approach of their teachers by applying new technical possibilities and a personal and contemporary vision, while retaining the documentary method their tutors propounded.
