A no reserve auction. Vintage good solid silver Rolex 'trench-watch' wristwatch, a very good and clean example.
Sleek silver engine turned dial with black Arabic hour markers, blued steel Breguet style hands subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o'clock, signed at 12 o'clock "ROLEX" base of dial marked "SWISS MADE" Very neat and original unrestored condition as visible in pictures .
The signed Rolex timepiece is in good original condition and is set with 15 jewels signed Rolex & Rebberg under dial who made movements For Rolex Back in its early days . The timepiece runs with a clear tick and keeps fair time for age, taking into account that the timepiece is antique and over 100 years old.
The silver 27 mm case is marked 925 silver import mark for London 1922 Rolex, and W&D for Wilsdorf & Davis( Hans Wisdorph & his brother in law Arthur Davis started Rolex in 1905. Bezel and back close tightly,
In 1913 Aegler registered Rolex as a trademark for the manufacture of watches and watch parts. From this point on the history of Wilsdorf & Davis, Aegler and Rolex becomes virtually impossible to untangle from information publicly available, and the modern Rolex foundation never divulges any of its history.
At a General Assembly on 2 July 1921, the joint-stock company under the name of Aegler S. A. fabrique de montres Rolex (Aegler S. A., Rolex Watch Co.) (Aegler S. A. Uhrenfabrik Rolex), with registered office in Biel, appointed the following Board of Directors: Hans Wilsdorf, President; Hermann Aegler, vice-president; Emil Béha, secretary.
